Amy Montgomery
Having witnessed her incredible stage presence at Dashville Skyline last year, Source Music jumped at the chance to work with Amy Montgomery on expanding her already growing Aussie fanbase.
At 21, Irish singer-songwriter Amy Montgomery is poised to become an exceptional new voice in the alternative rock music canon. Uninhibited, raw and with a sound like no other artist of her generation, Montgomery has a rare power that distils personal pain into something visceral and liberating.
Compared to some of the great women in music – Janis Joplin, Alanis Morissette, Patti Smith – Montgomery has embraced the challenges and losses in her life, channelling them into great art. Previous releases “Dangerous” and “Intangible” showcase her vocal prowess and explosiveness, something Australian and UK audiences have been privileged to witness when she toured with William Crighton and performed at Glastonbury, Dashville Skyline and Electric Picnic.
There are elements of music’s past and present in her new single “Anywhere” – citing Sia and Fleetwood Mac as influences in the making of this track – yet this sound is emphatically her own, full of emotion and grit. Montgomery says,
“‘Anywhere’ is a song of encouragement, resilience and hope. It’s a reminder that whenever we are searching for something, it is often within us and has been the whole time. It inspires us to embellish our perspective on life with determination and imagination, only then, will the world around us grow in colour and opportunity. You can take yourself ‘anywhere you want to go!”
Amy Montgomery’s new single “Anywhere” will be available on Friday, October 23.
