Declan Kelly
Declan Kelly was born in Sydney, Australia to an Irish father and Maori mother. Having two strong ancestral ties made it no wonder that creativity and music was running through his blood. His mother Salley, a singer also exposed Declan to the life of a musician and instruments from an early age where he took to the drums and guitar, singing to come later in his life.
In 2005, Declan released his debut album "Tales from the Neighbourhood" and began touring the Australian festival scene off the back of his roots reggae and Polynesian harmony.
His second album "Adrift" saw Declan’s songwriting mature to become deeply moving and personal, while his more recent project "Diesel n'Dub," a dub-reggae interpretation of Midnight Oil's hits, received many accolades for its stellar cast and strong musicianship. Proceeds go to the Indigenous Literacy Foundation.
Focusing on his first solo album in 10 years, Declan is tackling today's issues from mental health to masculinity and diving into the challenges he's faced in recent times. From despondency to clarity, "Views With A Room" is Declan's diary but also an outlet of positivity to the listener.
