Ed Wells

Ed’s music is a pure reflection of his diverse experiences and sonic influences. Wells is a performer by nature and a highly-skilled, highly-accomplished pianist. He showcased these talents with a performance of his song “Midnight Man” for Sofar Sounds London and has performed at distinguished venues like Troubadour Club (past performers include Bob Dylan and Adele), while his singles have amassed over 2 million streams on Spotify all over the globe.

His current single “GMT”explores some of the quirks of our modern society and, for better or worse, our obsession with time. Moreover, it questions our ability to live in the present when there seems to be a constant focus on what lies in the future. It, somewhat satirically considering the fundamental nature of the concept, suggests ‘living off time’ in order to see the world as it really is.

Out this month, the ‘Home’ EP was produced by supremely talented producer Luke Gerber and mixed by James Lewis (Rudimental, Artic Monkeys, Matt Corby) out of his studio in Peterborough, UK. Noting artists such as James Blake, Bon Iver, Matt Corby and Jordan Rakei as inspirations, it’s no surprise that Ed’s debut EP carries such a mature and polished sound. Ed says about his songwriting process:

“Usually, the lyrics come last because I just sit at a piano and play something. I’ve tried to make an effort to change the order around though, because I’ve found that it can make a huge difference to what kind of finished product comes out at the end.”
